Church Outreach FAQs

Family Assessment:

What does the Family Health Assessment measure?

It measures relational health, legacy, and impact.

How long is the Family Health Assessment Report?

The report is 8-12 pages long.

How long does it take to complete the assessment?

Approximately 15 minutes.

Who should take the assessment?

It is for adults. Husband and wife should take it separately. The staff leadership will also have a separate version than the congregation.

Family Champion Training:

Do you have more materials to help me gain excitement for the Family Ministry Process in my church?

We have a packet that we would be happy to send you. To request this information, e-mail us at familyministry@family.org

What are the dates of the Family Champion Trainings?

See our Events page.

How do I register for the Family Champion Training?

You can register by calling 1-800 A FAMILY (232-6459).

Who should I bring to the training? How many can I bring?

A pastor who will be very involved in the process and has the buy-in of the Senior Pastor. This could be the Senior Pastor or someone who the Senior Pastor has asked to carry out the details of the process, with the blessing/approval of the Senior Pastor. This pastor's spouse is invited as well. We would also ask you to bring at least two family champion couples. You can bring as many people as you like to the training.

What is included in the Family Champion Training cost?

Light breakfast, lunch, materials, and a campaign kit are all included in the cost of the training.

Focus on Your Campaign:

What is included in the Campaign Material?

Six weeks of sermon guides, youth curriculum, Sunday School and Children's Church Curriculum are included in the campaign material. We also provide you with promotional material to help you reach families in your community during the six-week campaign.

What ages does the Parent's Pack target?

The Parent's Pack is best suited to parents of children ages 2 to 12 years old. One Parent's Pack per family with children in that window should be used during the campaign.

How many weeks does the small group material cover?

We have small groups for both parenting and marriage. The content of this material is designed for a six-week campaign.

How long should our church schedule for the campaign?

Your church should block out eight weeks for the campaign launch. Six of those are the campaign itself. One week is for a pre-campaign message that includes many powerful statistics, and the eighth weekend is to deliver the Your Family Journey workshop in your church.

Other:

What role do Grandparents and Singles play in this process?

We do have non-DVD small group content available for a group of singles. It does cover marriage and parenting, but it may be small group curriculum better suited for singles. Grandparents would benefit from the marriage small group. Anyone, regardless of life stage or marital status, will benefit from Your Family Journey.

Can I have a Your Family Journey event in my own church?

Yes. We encourage you to utilize your Family Champions to facilitate this event in your church immediately following the campaign. You will be able to leverage the momentum of the campaign into something for families to use to become more intentional about growing in Christ and discipling their children. It can also be done through small groups.

Do you have PowerPoint presentations to guide my church through a Your Family Journey event?

Yes. If your church hosts a workshop, we will provide you with PowerPoint slides to make it as successful as possible.

How long does the Family Ministry Process last?

The process is as long as you want it to be. It often takes about six months from the time you do a Family Health Assessment through a Your Family Journey event, but families that develop an intentional spiritual development plan experience part of this process for as long as they follow that plan. In addition, Focus on the Family wants to support your church, as long you desire support. Together we can turn the tide of spiritual decay in the families of this world.

Building Faith at Home

This book challenges pastors to change from being people who give little attention to family ministry to being leaders who make it a top priority in their churches.
